India Aquaculture Water Quality Sensor Delivery Case: Sensors for Fish and Shrimp Pond Monitoring

2026-06-12

Water quality sensor shipment for India aquaculture project

Project Background

In early 2026, an Indian aquaculture equipment integrator contacted YexSensor for a batch order of online water quality sensors. The customer works with fish and shrimp farms in India, where pond farming is common and water quality can change quickly during hot weather, heavy feeding periods and seasonal rainfall.

Before placing the order, the customer explained that several farms in their project were still relying on manual water testing. Farm workers usually checked dissolved oxygen and pH several times a day, but problems often appeared at night or shortly after feeding. For intensive ponds, delayed response may lead to low dissolved oxygen, pH fluctuation, ammonia accumulation and unstable growth.

The customer wanted a practical sensor configuration that could be installed in batches, connected to their local monitoring cabinet and later expanded to more ponds. The first shipment was prepared for several aquaculture sites, mainly including fish ponds, shrimp ponds and small recirculating aquaculture system projects.

Delivery Story

After confirming the measured parameters and installation plan, the customer placed a first batch order for the project. This shipment included several dozen cartons of water quality monitoring products and accessories, packed on multiple pallets for easier warehouse handling and container loading.

The project schedule was tight because the customer needed the goods before the next installation window. From order confirmation to production, inspection and packing, our team completed the preparation in about 15 days. During production, we checked the sensor probes, cable connections, sealing positions and signal output stability. For products that would be used near pond water for long periods, sealing and stable communication were key inspection points.

The photo shows the finished goods stored in our warehouse before loading. Each carton was reinforced with packing straps, and the cartons were stacked neatly on pallets to make forklift handling and container loading easier. As the goods would be shipped to India by sea, the reinforced carton and pallet packing helped reduce the risk of compression, collision and handling damage during long-distance transportation.

After arrival in India, the customer planned to distribute the sensors in batches to partner farms. The first installation sites would use the sensors for daily pond monitoring, while the remaining stock would support new farm projects scheduled later in the season.

Monitoring Challenge

Aquaculture ponds in India often face high temperature, high feeding density and fast water quality changes. Dissolved oxygen may drop at night, pH may fluctuate between daytime and nighttime, and ammonium nitrogen may rise when feed residue and organic matter accumulate in the pond.

For this type of site, a single manual test result is not enough. The monitoring system needs to provide continuous data, support multiple water quality parameters and work with local controllers or IoT gateways. The customer also required the sensors to be easy to install and suitable for repeated farm projects, not only one demonstration pond.

YexSensor Recommended Solution

For this India aquaculture project, YexSensor recommended a multi-parameter configuration covering dissolved oxygen, pH, ammonium nitrogen, conductivity and turbidity. These parameters help the farm operator understand aeration demand, pond chemistry change, ammonia-related risk, salinity or water exchange changes and suspended solids in the pond.

All selected sensors support RS485 Modbus RTU output, so the customer can connect them to the existing monitoring cabinet or an IoT gateway. The data can be used to support aeration control, water exchange decisions and routine pond management.

Recommended Product Configuration

This configuration is suitable for fish ponds, shrimp farms, recirculating aquaculture systems and intensive aquaculture monitoring projects where continuous water quality data is required.

Project Value

For the Indian customer, this shipment was not only a product purchase but also the first step of a repeatable aquaculture monitoring package. With continuous sensor data, farm operators can react earlier to low oxygen, adjust aeration more reasonably, review pH and ammonia trends, and reduce the pressure of manual pond inspection.

The successful delivery helped the customer keep their project schedule. After the goods were packed and ready for shipment, the customer confirmed that the packing method and delivery progress met their requirements and planned to use the same configuration for upcoming pond projects.
