Products Description
YEX-S1-COD is a reagent-free online COD sensor using UV254 absorption to report organic load continuously, plus a turbidity channel, from a submersible IP68 probe over RS-485 Modbus RTU. It covers 0–200 / 0–500 mg/L (equiv. KHP) for wastewater, industrial effluent and surface water — no chemicals, no sampling lag.
Where It Fits in the YexSensor Line
The YexSensor online water quality family is organized in three tiers: the S1 standard series (cost-effective probes in an IP68 engineering-plastic housing for high-volume monitoring points), the S1 PRO stainless-steel series (316L stainless-steel housings for seawater, high-chloride and oily duty), and the S2 flagship series (dual-interface RS485 + 4–20 mA connectivity for OEM and mixed analog/digital projects). If your duty is conventional municipal, industrial or agricultural water at scale, the S1 series is the economical choice; specify S1 PRO when corrosion resistance and higher accuracy are required.
Core Technical Highlights
No reagents, no waste: UV254 optics remove chemical consumption and disposal cost entirely.
Two values from one probe: COD-equivalent and turbidity stream together on one Modbus register map.
Continuous organic-load trending: catch shock loads in minutes instead of waiting for the next lab round.
Digital RS-485 Modbus RTU: PLC, RTU, datalogger and IoT-gateway integration with diagnostics.
IP68 submersible body: immersion in channels, basins and weirs; NPT 3/4 thread for bypass cells.
Application Scenarios
- Plant inlet surveillance:
detect organic shock loads before they reach the biology.
Aeration and process control:feed load trends into blower and dosing decisions.
Effluent screening:continuous surrogate records that support your discharge compliance narrative.
Surface water:organic-pollution event tracking on rivers and lakes.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is UV254 COD the same as dichromate COD?
It is a surrogate: UV254 absorption is converted to a COD-equivalent through a correlation. It is excellent for trending and control; for regulatory reporting, verify the correlation against your local dichromate lab method on your actual water matrix.
What maintenance does the optical window need?
Fouled windows are the main error source in wastewater. Plan periodic window cleaning — manual wipes on clean duties, automatic cleaning where the site cannot guarantee labor.
What information should I provide for a quotation?
Provide the water matrix, expected COD span, installation method, cable distance, power supply and Modbus integration requirements, plus quantity and destination country.
What quality assurance is provided?
Every unit passes a standardized inspection process and a 72-hour high-temperature aging test before shipment, and is backed by a one-year warranty from the date of sale. Standard delivery includes the sensor, a 5 m four-core shielded cable, an instruction manual and a certificate of conformity.
