Products Description
YEX-S1-ORP High-Performance is an industrial online ORP (oxidation-reduction potential) sensor for demanding redox monitoring in chemical, environmental and production processes. Built on a patented long-life reference system, it reports ORP and temperature over RS-485 Modbus RTU from a submersible IP68 probe — giving PLC, RTU and SCADA systems a stable millivolt signal for disinfection control, oxidation-reduction reaction supervision and dosing interlocks.
Where It Fits in the YexSensor Line
The YexSensor online water quality family is organized in three tiers: the S1 standard series (cost-effective probes in an IP68 engineering-plastic housing for high-volume monitoring points), the S1 PRO stainless-steel series (316L stainless-steel housings for seawater, high-chloride and oily duty), and the S2 flagship series (dual-interface RS485 + 4–20 mA connectivity for OEM and mixed analog/digital projects). This high-performance variant sits at the top of the S1 tier: it keeps the economical IP68 plastic housing while upgrading the reference system for longer calibration intervals and more stable readings in aggressive chemistries. Choose it over the standard S1 ORP when reference drift and maintenance interval are the deciding criteria.
Core Technical Highlights
Patented long-life reference system: the single biggest differentiator. A stabilised reference junction resists poisoning and clogging in sulphide-, oil- and solids-bearing streams, extending the interval between calibrations.
±1500 mV full span: covers every practical water-treatment redox window, from chlorine disinfection (+600 to +800 mV) to denitrification supervision (negative mV).
Built-in temperature channel: automatic temperature compensation keeps readings comparable across seasons and process changes.
Digital RS-485 Modbus RTU: one twisted pair carries ORP and temperature to PLC, RTU, datalogger or IoT gateway with register-level diagnostics.
IP68 submersible body: continuous immersion in tanks, channels and basins; NPT 3/4 thread for pipe and flow-cell mounting.
12–24 V DC: compatible with solar-powered stations and standard control-cabinet supplies.
Application Scenarios
Chemical process control: track redox potential in oxidation and reduction reactors where reference stability directly affects yield and reagent consumption.
Disinfection and dechlorination: use ORP as a fast interlock input in chlorinated basins and dosing loops.
Heavy-metal and cyanide destruction: verify complete reduction-oxidation stages in metal-finishing effluent before discharge.
Environmental and production monitoring: long-term unattended ORP trending where maintenance visits are costly or infrequent.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does the high-performance version differ from the standard YEX-S1-ORP?
The measuring range, output and housing are the same; the difference is the patented long-life reference system. In clean water both models perform equally. In sulphide-bearing, oily or solids-laden streams, the upgraded reference resists poisoning and clogging, so it holds calibration longer and produces fewer drift-driven false alarms.
How often does an ORP probe need calibration?
Calibration interval depends on the water matrix rather than the clock. Clean process water may hold calibration for several months, while aggressive industrial streams may need monthly checks. The practical approach is to trend the reading against a periodic grab sample and calibrate when deviation exceeds your control tolerance — the long-life reference is what makes that interval commercially reasonable.
Where should the probe be installed?
Choose a representative, continuously wetted and well-mixed point; avoid dead zones, direct chemical-injection impact and bubble entrainment. Keep the sensing tip fully immersed and do not mount the probe upside-down or horizontally.
What quality assurance is provided?
Every unit passes a standardized inspection process and a 72-hour high-temperature aging test before shipment, and is backed by a one-year warranty from the date of sale. Standard delivery includes the sensor, a 5 m four-core shielded cable, an instruction manual and a certificate of conformity.
