Products Description

Conductivity sensor selection and commissioning checks

Specify the expected conductivity range and unit before selecting a variant. Confirm whether the controller needs uncompensated conductivity, temperature-compensated conductivity or a derived TDS value. A TDS conversion factor depends on the water composition; report the configured factor instead of treating TDS and conductivity as identical measurements.

This RS485 Modbus variant of the YEX-S1-EC industrial conductivity sensor is configured for PLC and SCADA monitoring with a 0–5000 µS/cm measuring range (TDS 0–3000 mg/L) — the working span of most municipal, industrial and agricultural water. It streams conductivity, TDS and temperature from a submersible IP68 probe over RS-485 Modbus RTU.

Where It Fits in the YexSensor Line

The YexSensor online water quality family is organized in three tiers: the S1 standard series (cost-effective probes in an IP68 engineering-plastic housing for high-volume monitoring points), the S1 PRO stainless-steel series (316L stainless-steel housings for seawater, high-chloride and oily duty), and the S2 flagship series (dual-interface RS485 + 4–20 mA connectivity for OEM and mixed analog/digital projects). If your duty is conventional municipal, industrial or agricultural water at scale, the S1 series is the economical choice; specify S1 PRO when corrosion resistance and higher accuracy are required.

Core Technical Highlights

  • Range tuned to real-world water: 0–5000 µS/cm covers potable, surface, irrigation and most wastewater without wasting resolution.

  • Three values from one probe: conductivity, TDS and temperature on one Modbus register map.

  • Digital RS-485 Modbus RTU: built for PLC, SCADA and datalogger integration with register-level diagnostics.

  • IP68 submersible body: NPT 3/4 thread for tanks, pipes and flow cells.

  • 12–24 V DC: solar-station friendly.

Application Scenarios

    Wastewater and effluent:
  1. ionic-load trending and shock-load detection at plant inlets.

  2. Drinking water networks:
  3. blend control and anomaly alarms in distribution monitoring.

  4. IR Fertigation and hydroponics:
  5. nutrient-solution concentration verification.

  6. Boiler and cooling circuits:
  7. blowdown control support and leak detection.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is this variant different from the four-range YEX-S1-EC?

This Modbus version is factory-configured to the 0–5000 µS/cm span — the most common municipal and industrial window — simplifying selection for standard projects. The four-range variant covers ultrapure and high-salinity extremes.

Is TDS the same as conductivity?

No. TDS is derived from conductivity through a composition-dependent factor (commonly ~0.5–0.7). The probe outputs both; verify the factor against your local lab method for reporting use.

What information should I provide for a quotation?

Provide the water matrix, expected conductivity span, installation method, cable distance, power supply and Modbus integration requirements, plus quantity and destination country.

What quality assurance is provided?

Every unit passes a standardized inspection process and a 72-hour high-temperature aging test before shipment, and is backed by a one-year warranty from the date of sale. Standard delivery includes the sensor, a 5 m four-core shielded cable, an instruction manual and a certificate of conformity.
