Physical Installation Specifications

Submersible Installation: The sensor supports direct immersion into water bodies.

Installation Angle: Horizontal or inverted installation is strictly prohibited. The sensor should maintain a tilt angle of at least 15 degrees above the horizontal plane to ensure full contact between the internal electrolyte and the membrane head.

Protection Measures: Avoid the membrane head directly touching river bottom sludge or being subjected to mechanical impact.

Maintenance and Care Process

To extend sensor life and ensure data accuracy, please strictly follow the following maintenance recommendations:

Initial Use and Activation: Before testing a new electrode, it needs to be soaked in activation solution for 24 hours. If the electrode has not been used for a long time or stored overnight, soak it in distilled water for 10 minutes first, then in dilute ammonium ion solution for 2 hours before use.

Daily Cleaning:

Regularly rinse the electrode with deionized water. If there are deposits on the PVC sensitive membrane surface, gently wipe with a soft cloth and rinse. Do not use organic solvents (such as silicone oil) to contact the electrode.

Calibration Recommendation:

This sensor supports two-point calibration (Zero & Slope). 1 mg/L and 10 mg/L standard solutions are provided with the product. Calibration is only recommended when the measurement error exceeds the allowable range.

FAQ

Q1: Can the electrode of YEX-iNHN-306 be replaced?

Yes. When the electrode still cannot be accurately calibrated or responds slowly after normal maintenance, it indicates that the electrode life has ended. At this time, only the front electrode assembly needs to be replaced, without replacing the entire transmitter body, greatly reducing long-term use costs.

Q2: Which ions will interfere with the accuracy of the ammonia nitrogen sensor?

Due to the use of ion selective electrode principle, some ions in water will cause cross-interference. The main interfering ion is potassium ion (K+), followed by sodium ion (Na+). In environments with extremely high potassium ion concentration, the measurement result may be high. Targeted compensation is recommended when the water quality background is known.

Q3: Does the pH value of the measurement environment affect the result?

Yes. The recommended working pH range of YEX-iNHN-306 is 4~10. In strongly alkaline environments (pH > 10), ammonium ion (NH4+) will be converted into ammonia gas (NH3), resulting in low sensor readings.

Q4: Why can't the sensor be installed horizontally?

Horizontal installation may cause bubbles between the filling liquid inside the electrode and the sensitive membrane, causing circuit interruption or severe numerical drift. Maintaining a tilt angle of more than 15 degrees is a necessary condition to ensure the stability of electrochemical performance.

Q5: Does the sensor need to add chemicals or reagents?

Completely unnecessary. This is the advantage of Yexsensor digital sensors. It generates electrical signals through physical and chemical reactions, without consuming any chemical agents during operation and without producing secondary pollution.

Q6: What is the maximum data transmission distance?

Using the standard RS-485 Modbus-RTU protocol, the theoretical transmission distance can reach 1200 meters. However, when transmitting over long distances, it is recommended to use shielded twisted pair wires to resist industrial electromagnetic interference.

Q7: What should I do if the measured value is continuously unstable?

First check whether the sensitive membrane surface is attached with bubbles or oil stains; secondly, confirm whether the electrode has been sufficiently activated (24 hours); finally, check whether the power supply voltage is stable within the 12-24V DC range.

Q8: Does it support custom cable length?

Yes. The standard configuration is 5-meter shielded cable. You can customize 10-meter, 20-meter or longer cables according to actual engineering needs.
