Installation Key Points

  • Tilted Installation: The sensor must not be installed upside down or horizontally. To ensure pressure balance of the internal reference system and air exclusion, it must be installed with a tilt angle of at least 15 degrees.

  • Interface Specification: Standard 3/4NPT thread. It is recommended to use a bracket for submersible installation or connection to a bypass flow cell.

Electrical Connection

The sensor uses a 5-core twisted shielded cable with the following wiring:

  • Red: Power Positive (12V~24V DC)

  • Black: Power Ground (GND)

  • Blue: 485A

  • Green: 485B

FAQ

Q1: Does the Yexsensor calcium ion electrode require special treatment before use?

Yes. New electrodes or electrodes stored dry for a long time should be activated by soaking in tap water for 24 hours before testing, then cleaned with deionized water before use.

Q2: What is the recommended calibration frequency for this sensor?

The sensor is calibrated before leaving the factory. In general industrial environments, frequent calibration is not recommended if readings are within tolerance. It is usually recommended to check every 1-3 months and perform two-point calibration only if significant deviation occurs.

Q3: Why can’t the sensor be installed horizontally?

This is determined by the internal structure of the ion selective electrode. Q6: What causes large fluctuations in measured values?

Please check: ① Whether wiring terminals are damp or contaminated (can be wiped with absolute alcohol); ② Whether there are bubbles at the front of the electrode; ③ Whether there is severe electromagnetic interference in the water body, and ensure the shielded cable is properly grounded.

Q7: How to determine if the electrode has failed?

If the sensor still cannot pass calibration normally (such as severe slope drop or extremely slow response) after cleaning and recalibration according to maintenance procedures, it indicates that the PVC sensitive membrane or reference system has reached its lifespan limit and requires electrode replacement.

Q8: Can the sensor measure calcium ions in seawater?

Due to the extremely high concentrations of interfering ions such as sodium and magnesium in seawater, they will cause selectivity interference to calcium ion electrodes.
