YEX-S2-GA Online Calcium Ion Sensor Product Overview
In the fields of industrial process water treatment, boiler feed water monitoring, and environmental monitoring, real-time knowledge of calcium ion concentration is crucial for preventing equipment scaling and assessing water hardness. The YEX-S2-GA series online calcium ion sensor developed by Yexsensor adopts leading Ion Selective Electrode (ISE) technology, combining a highly selective PVC sensitive membrane with precision digital processing circuits.
This sensor not only solves the time lag problem of traditional laboratory chemical analysis but also significantly improves the stability and durability of ion electrodes in online monitoring through patented hardware innovations. Whether in remote monitoring of smart water supply systems or precise control of industrial production lines, Yexsensor provides fast, simple, accurate, and cost-effective calcium ion monitoring solutions.
YEX-S2-GA Online Calcium Ion Sensor Core Technical Advantages
1. Patented Reference System, Extended Maintenance Cycle
The stability of ion selective electrodes depends on the reference electrode. Yexsensor adopts a patented calcium ion electrode design where the internal reference solution seeps out extremely slowly through a micro-porous salt bridge under at least 100KPa (1Bar) pressure. This constant-pressure micro-permeation technology effectively prevents external water samples from backflow contaminating the reference solution, ensuring long-term potential stability and significantly extending maintenance-free time and overall service life in industrial field applications.
2. Digital Signal Processing and Anti-Interference Capability
YEX-S2-GA converts analog signals into digital signals at the front end of the sensor. It supports standard RS-485 Modbus/RTU bus protocol, meaning data is unaffected by environmental electromagnetic noise during long-distance transmission. The sensor also incorporates high-efficiency signal filtering algorithms to effectively resist electrical interference from other coexisting ions in water.
3. Fully Automatic Temperature Compensation (Pt1000)
The response of ion selective electrodes follows the Nernst equation, with slope varying significantly with temperature. Yexsensor integrates a high-precision Pt1000 temperature element inside the sensor to achieve fully automatic temperature compensation. The system can correct the influence of temperature fluctuations on calcium ion activity within 0~40℃ in real time, ensuring the authenticity and linearity of measurement values.
4. Flexible Hardware Materials and High Protection Rating
YEX-S2-GA-A (Standard Version): POM and ABS materials, balancing strength and cost-effectiveness.
YEX-S2-GA-S (Enhanced Version): POM and 316L stainless steel housing, offering excellent mechanical strength and corrosion resistance.
The entire series achieves IP68 protection rating, can work submerged in water for long periods, and features 3/4NPT pipe thread interface for convenient on-site installation.

Wiring & Installation Instructions
Installation Key Points
Tilted Installation: The sensor must not be installed upside down or horizontally. To ensure pressure balance of the internal reference system and air exclusion, it must be installed with a tilt angle of at least 15 degrees.
Interface Specification: Standard 3/4NPT thread. It is recommended to use a bracket for submersible installation or connection to a bypass flow cell.
Electrical Connection
The sensor uses a 5-core twisted shielded cable with the following wiring:
Red: Power Positive (12V~24V DC)
Black: Power Ground (GND)
Blue: 485A
Green: 485B
Yellow: Analog Current Output (optional; leave floating and insulate if not used)
Note: All on-site wiring must be strictly waterproofed to prevent moisture from entering the cable and causing signal fluctuations or electrode failure.
FAQ
Q1: Does the Yexsensor calcium ion electrode require special treatment before use?
Yes. New electrodes or electrodes stored dry for a long time should be activated by soaking in tap water for 24 hours before testing, then cleaned with deionized water before use.
Q2: What is the recommended calibration frequency for this sensor?
The sensor is calibrated before leaving the factory. In general industrial environments, frequent calibration is not recommended if readings are within tolerance. It is usually recommended to check every 1-3 months and perform two-point calibration only if significant deviation occurs.
Q3: Why can’t the sensor be installed horizontally?
This is determined by the internal structure of the ion selective electrode. Tilted installation ensures full contact between the internal electrolyte and the membrane and utilizes gravity and the patented pressure system to allow slow seepage of reference solution, preventing bubble accumulation on sensitive areas that could affect readings.
Q4: Is the calcium ion sensor greatly affected by water pH?
The optimal working range of this product is pH 4~10. Strong acid or strong alkaline conditions may affect the response characteristics of the PVC membrane or shorten electrode life.
Q5: Is the electrode a consumable? What is its approximate lifespan?
Ion selective electrodes are electrochemical sensors with a limited service life. Yexsensor significantly extends lifespan through its patented reference system. Under standard industrial conditions, it can typically be used for more than 12 months. The electrode part comes with a six-month warranty.
Q6: What causes large fluctuations in measured values?
Please check: ① Whether wiring terminals are damp or contaminated (can be wiped with absolute alcohol); ② Whether there are bubbles at the front of the electrode; ③ Whether there is severe electromagnetic interference in the water body, and ensure the shielded cable is properly grounded.
Q7: How to determine if the electrode has failed?
If the sensor still cannot pass calibration normally (such as severe slope drop or extremely slow response) after cleaning and recalibration according to maintenance procedures, it indicates that the PVC sensitive membrane or reference system has reached its lifespan limit and requires electrode replacement.
Q8: Can the sensor measure calcium ions in seawater?
Due to the extremely high concentrations of interfering ions such as sodium and magnesium in seawater, they will cause selectivity interference to calcium ion electrodes. If use in seawater is required, please contact the Yexsensor technical team to evaluate accuracy under specific background interference.
Summary
